The May reading group was unimpressed with what both the State and Federal budgets had to offer for waterways. Unfortunately, funding for new programs was limited. We discussed how the budgets represented a shift towards being a “brown economy” and how we, as natural resource managers, need to find a way to operate within that framework. Sadly, we concluded that waterways are losers in both budgets.
The Federal and Victorian State Governments have now both released their budgets for the next financial year. Are waterways winners or losers under each budget?
Join us at the next RBMS Reading Group to discuss how the two budgets are likely to impact our industry.
